The Project
The Rural Route to Active Aging project offers resources to promote physical activity and build capacity for physical activity opportunties for adults (55 to 75) in rural areas. Print and web-based resources are designed for practitioners, community leaders and older adults.
The project addresses the priorities in the Alberta Active Living Strategy and Alberta's Rural Development Strategy: A Place to Grow. The project's goal is to improve the health of rural Albertans through education, facilitate community action and promote lifelong physical activity.

This guide is for adults living in rural areas who want to stay active as they age. If you know that you need to move more and sit less, this guide is for you.
The guide give you information about:
- The benefits of an active lifestyle and how much you need to stay healthy.
- How to set and meet activity goals.
- Preparing to be active (e.g. tips on footwear and clothing and ways to keep safe).
- Being active in your rural community.
- Ideas for making your community more activity friendly.

Older Adult Activity Tracker
This Activity Tracker helps older adults set personal activity goals and track their activity every day. A handy monthly progress chart allows people to see whether they've met their goals.
